​The Gleaning​ is an exhibition and installation forming part of the Somerset Arts Weeks from 22nd September - 9th October 2022 and is in Shepton Mallet Church. Gill Sakakini and Fiona Campbell are collaborating and co-curating this ambitious community arts project.




The Gleaning retrospective can be found at fionacampbellart.co.uk/the-gleaning. Enjoy looking back on this exciting project in the heart of Shepton Mallet.

    "Song & Celebration" at The Gleaning on Saturday 8th Oct, 3pm.
    Young performers Joe Ducille (student at the English National Ballet, London), and Gregory Steward, Tenor, share their talents along with students from The Chapel Dance Studio and choirs from Bowlish Infants School and St Paul's Primary School. Come and support them!

    Poets, writers, and musicians share their responses to ​The Gleaning. This is an informal gathering and all are welcome - performers and audience. Please contact Polly Hall if you'd like to share your work (email: hello@pollyhall.co.uk)

    A workshop for all ages exploring the theme of care and repair using found and recycled materials.

     Wednesday 20th July from 10am to 12pm. 
    Location: Sweet 11 Café, 16 High St, Shepton Mallet BA4 5AN
    Sharing our love of cakes across cultures! Come and draw, taste, chat, create and share cultural experiences in Sweet 11 Café, on Wednesday 20th July, 10am-12noon. Hosted by Christina and Elena, and friends as part of The Gleaning community arts project.

    Location: Shepton Mallet Church 
    A workshop about stories, with art-making, led by author Polly Hall, with Fiona Campbell and Gill Sakakini.

    "Drawing On with Words!": A special workshop using the power of words – inspired by the beauty of Collett Park – to create stories and literary artwork with Gill Sakakini and Polly Hall on Tuesday 16th Aug from 10am to 12pm. Bring your own picnic!
    Location: Collett Park, Shepton Mallet
    A story/art-making community workshop for all ages and abilities, involving various drawing techniques and featuring work made from gathered, recycled and found materials. Some of the work produced may form part of the final The Gleaning​ art installations and exhibition in the church.
    This is a FREE event.
