Theological EducationImaging the Story: Exploring the Visual and Poetic Contours of Salvation
In August 2015 I taught a Summer School course at Carey Theological Institute, Vancouver, Canada. Art and Theology Module in collaboration with ACE (Art & Christianity Enquiry), May 2014 & April 2015. For more information about ACE please visit their website by clicking here
The aim of the module was to provide opportunities for students to engage theologically with works of art, to consider the different contexts in which art is seen, and finally, to see the place of art in sacred space.
I gave a lecture on “Creativity and
Theology” as part of a day of study on contemporary art in sacred spaces. This week long module provided opportunities
for ordinands, clergy- in-training,
to engage theologically with works of art.
Students were invited to consider the different contexts in which art is
seen, and to see the place of art in sacred space.
