Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th October, 2025, 9.15am - 5.00pm at Create@#8, Shepton Mallet, 8 Town St, Somerset BA4 5XN

An experiential two-day course with an emphasis on ‘learning through making’.
  • The first day is an introduction to Book Arts as a creative practice. You will see, handle and make a range of book forms, expanding your idea of a “book”, to encompass flexible, creative and expressive forms, and you will discover that ‘the shape of the book can be the shape of your idea’ - building confidence through the making process.
  • You will design a creative book of your own into which you can place different aspects of your life’s journey, memories and fragments of remembered speech, to capture and explore parts of your own story.
  • The second day will offer strategies to help others therapeutically through Book Arts. You will learn a range of tried and tested structures and methods suitable for all ages especially young people struggling with their own problems and life stories and older people with memory loss and dementia. You will have the opportunity to build on this, working towards the creation of new forms specific and appropriate to your own client group.
